{SHE'S HUGE. The pediatrician even mentioned not to worry if she doesn't roll over very much because 'she's a big girl'!}

Tessa Faith - Two Months:

Has started 'cooing' and flashing her big, blue eyes (it may just be my imagination, but her 'coo's sound so much sweeter than the boys')

The eyes. I hope they stay that blue forever.

Started sucking her thumb! Neither of the boys did that so we are pretty smitten for now.

Not a fan of nighttime car rides. Girl likes to be in her crib AT bedtime.

Went on her first overnight trip with mom and dad to Columbus, Ohio for Chris' birthday celebration (she shopped all day and slept through dinner - amazing!)

Salem::9 Months

As of Friday, November 2nd, Salem is officially a crawling baby!

Little Updates

Nothing big, just some little things here and there that I do not want to forget:

1. Colin went to his first yoga class and owned it!
2. The other day, he told me that he wants to call his Dadda 'Dad'. But not until he gets older. Right now he just wants to call him 'Dadda'. And that made me smile inside.
3. Salem ate black beans and rice for the first time. Refused to eat his baby food. He wanted to eat what the rest of us were eating. So he did.
4. Colin begged to say the blessing before dinner the other night. We held hands, bowed our heads, and heard 'I pledge allegiance...'. In its entirety. I kid you not.
5. For Halloween, Colin was Buzz Lightyear. For two days, Colin demanded to write 'Buzz' at the top of all of his school papers. We will see if this new habit continues after the holiday...

Yet Another Milestone

August 31. 2012

Salem surprised us all by taking the bottle right out of my hands and drinking it to the last drop! 

Infant-Led-Weaning

We are trying out a feeding concept called 'infant led weaning'. Instead of starting Salem on baby foods and worrying about buying nasty mush or pureeing my own, I did some research and came across ILW. Once the baby is old enough to sit up and bring food to their mouth on their own, they can start exploring foods and learning to eat on their own. They eat the same food that we eat, in their own time.

Salem's still a little young to start- the recommended age is six months- but he has shown a lot of interest in the food that we eat and tends to get cranky during dinner so I thought I would start him and see how it goes. We started with teething biscuits and plain old toast...

 And tonight he tried bananas and chunks of roasted sweet potatoes...

He still struggles a bit with getting a good grasp on the food bits and controlling it to his mouth but he has already shown improvement in just the few times that we have tried it. And he loves it! He gets so frustrated when he keeps dropping pieces. He wants to eat SO badly! 

Colin is a good eater but can be picky at times. I'm hoping that watching his baby brother eat all of these different foods will entice him to be more adventurous, too! 

The Magistros Came to Town!

Growing up, my mom was the best at opening her home to visitors! The fridge would be stocked with every one's favorite foods, meals would be planned, and the guest room would be ready for our special guests. That is something that I hope to carry on in our new home as well!

We were delighted to have our good friends Chad and Terra and their sweet little girl, Melia, come in for a visit this weekend. The weather was supposed to be bad so we kinda played everything by ear, deciding first to go to the zoo and then skipping that and heading to the Newport Aquarium when the clouds starting rolling in. The kiddos didn't seem to mind either way!

Of all of us, Colin seems to LOVE visitors the most! He kept asking us for hours before their arrival when 'that girl' was going to get here. They played together so well and we enjoyed their company very much! Can't wait for them to come visit us again soon.

In other news, Salem is now a rolling machine and tried out his highchair for the first time today! Since he is teething, I have had him try a slice of an apple to suck on and today he tried a teething biscuit. He picked it up and made it into his mouth a few times but there is definitely going to be some learning involved! Can't believe my little guy is big enough to do all of this already. Blows my mind!

Happy 4th of July!

Salem decided to celebrate his Independence by rolling over for the first time!

I was SO excited for him. He's been working on it for a while now. Rolling on his side only to get stuck. It was so great to see him accomplish it for the first time! I may have scared him a little with my screaming. Then I got a little sad. Now that he knows how to roll over, scooting around and crawling aren't far behind. Aw! They grow so fast!
