My Breakfast Date

Sorry no pictures today! Colin had broken out in HORRIBLE hives yesterday and when we took him to school this morning they kind of freaked out- a lot. So, I went and picked him up to take him to the doctor to reassure them. Since we had about an hour to spare, Colin and I went to Panera to have breakfast together. I picked a table for two over by the window and let him have his own chair- no highchair or booster seat. He did awesome! He ate his entire fruit cup and even cleaned up after himself. The conversation was great! It was really, really sweet and I decided that we needed to start doing it more often. Thank you, Colin, for such a great date! 

Little MacGyver

Yep, that's the front door. Mr. Colin has learned that by dumping a toy box and flipping it upside-down, it gives him just the boast that he needs to reach the dead-bolt and then the door knob! Perfect. Do they make child-proof dead-bolts?

Thank Goodness for Velcro!

For the very first time, Colin put on both of his shoes by himself! They may have been on the wrong feet but they were all the way on. He's got the right idea. As you can tell, we were very excited:

Big Boy School

This week was Colin's first week at Little Red School House! He has had a babysitter in the neighborhood for the past year but we thought it was time to get him into a more structured, educational-based environment. The transition has gone well so far! He's even napping on a mat rather than in a crib, which I thought would be the biggest problem. Everyday, he brings home colorful artwork and a pristine review - well, all except for the pushing. Hopefully that will end soon! But so far, so good. We are SO very happy that we made the transition to Little Red. Oh, did I mention that he already knows his 1-2-3's? Yay! 

18 Months

So I'm a little behind. Colin is now a few days past 18 months, but who's counting? Here's a glance at the little guy today...

Weight: 21 lbs. and some odd ounces

Height: barely 30 inches

(did I mention he's small?)

Words:

'Mama', 'Mommy', 'Mom' - me

'Daddy' - Chris (or me, he mixes them up sometimes)

'Doggy' - dog

'Puppy' - anything that moves on four legs and may or may not have fur

'Bubba' - sippy cup or give me a drink now!

'Ball' - ball

'Baw-ball' - basketball, football, baseball

'Bye Bye' - good-bye

'Hi' - hello

'Night night' - good night

New Foods:

Grits, figs, lamb, blackberries, chocolate, and the basics

Skills:

Feeding himself with a fork and spoon - in fact, he doesn't like us to feed him at all

Hitting a ball

 

Shooting a ball into the hoop

Climbing in and out of a playpen

Riding his 4 wheeler

Puzzle-master

I wish I would have started doing this sooner! It would have been fun to see the changes. He has grown so much!

Easter Bunny Visits Periwinkle Drive

Chris' Mom and Bob came in to visit for the weekend so we all went to church on Saturday night at Seven Hills. Colin looked very dapper for the occasion:

The Easter Bunny surprised us Sunday morning with an overflowing basket tucked in Colin's igloo:

Notice the marshmallow filled mouth? He loves chocolate! I have been extremely hesitant to give him any junk food because of his allergies. Sometimes chocolate can have different additives in them - such as wheat and soy - or the manufacturers will produce the chocolate products in the same space as those with nuts. He's done very well with M&M's and Dove chocolates. No reactions thus far! 

We enjoyed the beautiful day with our family. Hope everyone had a "Hoppy Easter"!

Today we took Colin to the driving range for his very first golf lessons! Didn't go as well as planned but it was still a fun adventure:
